The 5 Mistakes I Made My First Year As An Entrepreneur
My journey is a testimonial to how hard entrepreneurship can be if your starting out as a COMPLETE beginner. Hopefully I can spare you some of the pain by telling you where I went wrong.
My journey of entrepreneurship was hard, and continues to be hard every day.
That's just the game.
If you want to embark on this journey then it’s only a matter of time before you make your first mistake.
My goal here is to show you the mistakes I made to save you from having to experience the pain yourself.
You’ll still make other mistakes, just not these ones.
Hopefully…
Let’s begin.
1) Not Growing With My Business.
Your business is a reflection of you.
The truth is your business can only grow as much as you grow as a person.
I’m not the same person I was two years ago when I started my entrepreneur journey. Near everything is different about me.
It’s important to accept that change isn’t a bad thing, but it is necessary.
The easiest way to have a successful business is first to become the person that owns a successful business.
Your new life is going to cost you your old life.
Are you ready to make that trade?

If you don’t have a successful business right now then it’s very likely that the person you are right now isn’t capable of doing that.
The best thing I did was change myself into the person who would be able successfully run a business.
I asked myself, “what does a person who is successful think, believe, and do?”
Then, I developed new habits, new beliefs, and new skills.
2) Not Focusing on My Unique Value Proposition.
The truth is any industry has a ridiculous amount of competition.
Especially if you want to start a online business because EVERYONE else does as well.
So what makes you different?
It’s important to know the answer to this question and leverage it whenever you speak with a prospect.
If you’re familiar with some of my other writings and posts then this drawing I made should look familiar to you:

Not separating yourself from your competitors will keep you in what I like to call the slavery flywheel of online business:

If you can’t think of innovative new ways to separate yourself from your market, then the easiest thing to do is just rename your product.
For example, if your a marketing agency…
You’re not running Facebook ads for businesses.
You implementing your Advanced Client Acquisition Blueprint
Do you see the difference?
3) Not being problem orientated.
If i’m being honest, I initially created my business because I wanted to live the dream life.
I wanted to be rich, drive fast cars and travel the world.
Don’t we all?
But the problem here is the harsh world of business doesn’t give a damn about what you want.
It’s “Can you solve my problem? If not, get out of my face.”
This is the truth.
The moment I switched to trying to solve every single problem my clients faced instead of just running simple Facebook or Google ads, is the moment business started becoming a game.
Focus on solving real problems and you will get rich.
Focus on getting rich and you will have real problems.

Business is all about solving problems.
If you can consistently solve people’s problems, you will consistently have money.
4) Focusing on the wrong things.
In the beginning I was so focused on stupid things.
I spent two weeks just soaking up information trying to make sure I knew everything I could before jumping into starting my business.
Then I spent the next 2 weeks focusing on my:
Logo
Landing Page
Website
Branding
The result? No money.
The truth is you will never “know enough” to start.
You just have to start.
None of this truly matters.
The only thing that will keep your business alive is CLIENTS.
Get more clients, get more money.
Get more money, you win the game of business.
5) Not Innovating My Product
As a business owner, innovation should be one of your top priorities.
You should always be looking for new ways to improve or add to your product.
Otherwise your competitors will do it for you.
When I got good results with a client, I did nothing.
When I got bad results with a client, I did nothing.
You need to record everything you do in order to:
1) Replicate the good results
2) Find out what went wrong with the bad results.
The more you can satisfy you’re clients, the more you can increase their LTV (Life Time Value).
People will stay with you longer if you can continue to get them results.
Shocking right?
Didn’t think so…
Hope you enjoyed this one and I hope I saved you some time, effort, and money on your entrepreneurial journey.
Wish you the best,
-Toussaint
