Deep Dive

Let’s break down how the average persons life looks like:

Relatively consistent.

Of course the average person experiences a good amount of highs and lows but ultimately stays in the same place his whole life.

Now this can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

It’s good because there is structure which keeps them from completely derailing and ruining their life.

But these can also be seen as limits or restrictions that keep this person enclosed from experiencing a life of their own.

When going down this path you are forced to remain within the averages of society.

Depending on what you want this can be good or bad.

Let’s take a look at the average.

The average male in the us:

  • Goes to school for 4 years

  • Makes $63,960 per year

  • 20% of their income goes straight to uncle sam (taxes to IRS since they have no write offs)

  • Works 40.5 hours per week

  • Works for 40 years

  • Retires at 65

  • Spends retirement years on

Now these can all be good or bad depending on how you view them. It is completely subjective.

Here is how the average persons life who chooses their own trajectory tends to look:

As you can see they experience much higher highs, but the lows can be extremely low.

This is because when you aren’t boarded by society your life is completely in your own hands.

There is no structure unless you create it for yourself.

This can be detrimental for some and a dream come true for others.

Now the whole point of this game called life is to fail as much as possible, as fast as possible, without being knocked out of the game.

Being knocked out of the game would look like this:

The question now is how can we choose our own life trajectory yet protect ourself from detrimental failure and continue on the overall path of success.

Well it’s all due to one word

Principles

Principles are fundamental truths that determine how you behave.

Everyone should have their own principles, here are my personal principles that seem to serve me quite well in life:

  • evolve or die

This is because prolonged comfort will inevitably lead to sharp pain. And if you stay comfortable too long you could very quickly find yourself knocked out of the game

  • pain = gain

    Prolonged pain equals exponential growth.

  • 80/20 rule, focus on the 20

  • win the battle between the two “yous”

the two “yous” are a battle between your conscious and logical self vs your subconscious emotional self

  • Look for leverage in each decision/action (advance faster in short periods of time)

I urge you to create your own but if you just copy mine you might end up alright as well.
